Using A-Dock : Basics
General
A-Dock is divided in 4 zones : The Finder icon is hilited so it means this is the frontmost application. Clicking on another icon will bring that application to the foreground if it was already running, or will launch it in the other case. Running applications are shown with an arrow below the icon like in Mac OS X's dock. Application names are displayed in tooltips to save space. Tooltips show the name of the application that's under the pointer :
Expanding/Contracting the dock By default, A-Dock palette is always shown, floating over all the other windows. However, you can collapse it to a small bar to save space by clicking on the handle (zone number 4). A-Dock will then look like : Clicking back on the handle will expand the dock.
Using the autopop feature A-Dock can expand the dock automatically if you move the mouse over the collapsed bar and wait for a short time. Then when the dock is expanded, if you move the mouse outside and wait a bit the dock will collapse automatically. These delays can be modified using A-Dock Control.
Locking the dock in the open position When A-Dock auto-expands, if you click in the handle (zone number 4) while holding the option key, A-Dock will lock itself in the open position, which means that if you move the mouse outside of the dock, it will stay opened. The cursor will change into a key lock for half a second, and will go back to the normal arrow just after. If, after that, you wish to close the dock, click back on the handle.
Moving the dock By default, A-Dock is displayed at the bottom of your screen, in the middle position. If you change your screen resolution, A-Dock will adapt its position to stay in the middle. The dock can be positioned everywhere on the screen edges. To move it, hold down the command key () and click&drag the dock. You can also move it without the command key by clicking in the area below the icons and dragging the dock.
